Behind Her Mask

Charity Ball 28.02.15_edit_edit_edit

Of course I’m fine, why do you ask?
Oh don’t mind this, it’s just my mask

Behind her mask she hides
A broken heart and an empty smile

Behind her mask the things you don’t see
Unsmiling eyes and unhappy tears

Behind her mask, she won’t allow you to see
Broken promises and empty dreams

Behind her mask, her pain whispers
‘Smile today and forget the blisters’

Behind her mask, she feels unloved
But love him with all her heart she does

Behind her mask are her battle scars
Covered with make-up, fake smiles and laughter

Behind her mask, as the night falls
With sad tears she removes her mask

And when she rises with the morning sun
She musters all her courage and puts her mask back on
